Thailand Scuba Diving
If you love scuba diving, Thailand is most likely beckoning to you! An exotic locale, beautiful countryside, and of course pristine beaches that in the more remote areas are still somewhat untouched by the grabbing hand of industrialization. Yet before heading off to your cheap Thailand scuba diving trip, here are some things to remember:
- Have a valid passport ready and packed. If you do not have a passport, remember that the issuing authority is running behind, and you will want to apply now for the documentation so that you do not run into a time crunch, or worse, have to cancel he whole trip simply because you lack the documents needed.
- When ready to embark on your Thailand scuba diving holidays, do not over pack! Instead, make the carry on rules work for you, so that you spend only a limited time at the baggage carousel. Of course, this activity cannot be entirely avoided in most cases, but if you are headed for a known Thailand scuba diving destination, you may be able to leave a lot of heavy gear behind if the resort has rental equipment at reasonable costs. Find out if you need to reserve the items ahead of time or if it is acceptable to do so one you have arrived in Thailand. Scuba diving with rented equipment might make the excursions a lot more fun than having to haul, maintain, and clean your own gear every day.
- Whenever possible, book Thailand scuba diving packages from reputable vendors. Yet no matter how reputable the agency, do take out the insurance that will protect you in case the trip gets canceled or you need to cancel the vacation yourself.
- Before going to Thailand, scuba diving enthusiasts know that they will need to check in with the doc. Sometimes there are vaccines that need to be received while other times simple booster shots will keep you healthy.
- Read up on the language, culture, and history of Thailand. Scuba diving vacations are great fun, but keep in mind that you will not just play with the marine life, but also interact with the people who live in the area. Knowing local customs, what to avoid, and how to be a gracious visitor who represents her or his country in a good light is important.
- Budget for your stay in Thailand. Scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing excursions, sightseeing and a host of other activities cost money. Your Thailand scuba diving vacation will quickly run over budget if you do not plan for these items ahead of time. Know the going rate in the area you are visiting, and avoid paying more than this rate when booking these activities onsite.
